Eating
Giving a broader and deeper dimension to this act
November 25th 2025
Human beings, like animals, must eat to survive, but unlike animals, human beings can, through their greater awareness, find in their nourishment a way to develop psychically and spiritually. And I would even go so far as to say that as long as human beings are incapable of giving the act of eating a broader and deeper dimension, it is pointless for them to claim to be cultured or civilized.* This, for me, is a test.
When human beings learn to eat with enlightened consciousness, filled with wonder and gratitude at the thought of how the entire universe has worked to produce the fruit, vegetables and grain that give them life, then, yes, we can consider ourselves to be cultured and civilized.
