The sensory organs are like doors through which the outer world gains access to our soul. That is why it is so important to check what enters us by means of our senses, especially images and sounds. Who knows what influence sound has on the depths of our inner life? Human beings allow any sort of music to assault their ears without considering how it will affect them, and these days we are exposed to such cacophonies.
So, be vigilant, and learn to work with music to enrich your spiritual life. When you feel that music purifies, enlightens and strengthens you, allowing you to create inner order and unity, try to make use of it. Keep an image, a light or an elevated idea in your mind, heart and soul, and the music will help uplift you, projecting you towards heaven.
