Master

He gives true knowledge to his disciples and accepts their shortcomings

March 16th 2026
The role of a spiritual Master is to give his disciples true knowledge, even though he knows that they are not yet able to put it into practice. He is obliged to tell them that there is a better way of understanding things, but at the same time he must be patient and tolerant, and accept their shortcomings.
You all know the parable of the banquet from the Gospels. ‘A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, “Come, for all things are now ready.” But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, “I have bought a piece of land, and I must go and see it; please accept my regrets.” And another said, “I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them; please accept my regrets.” Still another said, “I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.”’
The excuses the guests made to avoid attending the banquet are an accurate reflection of the pretexts most disciples find for continuing to pursue their material interests and pleasures, while forsaking the Lord.
