Marriage

We must have valid reasons for staying single

April 7th 2026
The issue of marriage is far more complex than many people imagine. Some people refuse the bonds of matrimony out of selfishness or laziness. They do not want to assume the burden of a family. They do not realize that nobody has the right to remain single for such reasons, and that they will encounter even more difficulties and torments than if they had wed.
This does not mean that everybody must absolutely get married. If you have a valid reason for remaining single, such as helping a greater number of people and devoting yourself to the good of all humanity, then you will not be blamed; on the contrary. But otherwise, people would do better to marry and have children—to at least do something for someone besides themselves and broaden their field of consciousness. Because remaining isolated for selfish reasons does not bring happiness. When the Lord created men and women, He had extraordinary plans for them; it is they who do not understand those plans.
