Messenger of heaven

Only someone who is pure and disinterested can become one

The various practices prescribed by religions the world over (fasting, ablutions, prayer, and so on) are designed to prepare human beings to receive currents and messages from heaven properly. In reality, of course, it is not the act of fasting or going on a retreat that is, in itself, essential. What is essential is to undertake an inner work of detachment and purification: to improve the quality of our thoughts, feelings and actions.
Those who have not made up their mind to carry out this work would do better to leave spirituality alone, otherwise they will become a danger to themselves and to others. There is nothing worse than taking ourselves for a messenger, an instrument of heaven if we have not yet rid ourselves of our prejudices and baser inclinations. Thus, we have seen people who have ended by imposing their tyranny on their family, or even on their own country. Only someone who is truly pure and disinterested can claim to be a messenger of heaven.
