Spirit

It can settle only in a dwelling worthy of it

The truth is, as spirits, human beings are not yet really settled in their body. They drag it along, are buried, crushed, and sometimes even stifled by it, but they are not established within it. The spirit can only establish itself in a home that is worthy of it. In the meantime, the spirit (or rather what is thought of as the spirit) ambles along with the body, stumbling unsteadily around, arm in arm like a right pair. What a sight!
Yet that is exactly the situation of human beings who have not yet understood that they need to work on themselves. And what is this work? It is to free the divine principle within, so that it may rise as high as possible, and then, on its way back down from the heights, purify and illuminate its own dwelling. This dwelling is our physical body, but also our astral and mental bodies, through which our spirit must one day be able to manifest itself.
