Using good material conditions to devote more time to working with thought

June 19th 2026
People tend to let themselves go when external conditions are favourable. They need difficulties and misfortunes to oblige them to get a grip on themselves and make efforts to rectify the situation. And once they have succeeded, that’s it, they let themselves go again and slump back into laziness. Well no, this is not the right attitude. Whatever the external conditions may be, we must always continue to work, knowing that work must always come first. Good material conditions must not be an excuse for letting ourselves go. On the contrary, we must learn to use these conditions to devote more time to working with thought and to the construction of our inner being.
