Knowledge
Two paths: that of matter for ordinary people and that of the spirit for initiates
August 1st 2026
Human beings can follow one of two paths in the pursuit of knowledge: the path of matter or that of the spirit. If they choose the path of matter, they are like water that flows down from the heights and spreads over the surface of the earth: it becomes polluted, and then is purified by seeping into the ground and making its way through many dark underground layers before reappearing one day at last as spring-water. This way of acquiring knowledge is long and painful. It is the path of all ordinary human beings who have to endure trials and suffering.
The other path is that of the high Initiates: they choose to learn by rising like fire towards the heavens. Their knowledge—that of the spirit—is acquired without stain or suffering. An Initiate who succeeds in rising in this way becomes one with the Holy Spirit and partakes of eternity.
