Only the heart has been granted the ability to penetrate it

Human beings have got into the habit of busying their intellect to such an extent and often in such a chaotic fashion that they are no longer able to control their thoughts. And it is this utterly disorganized, cacophonous thinking that prevents them from rising above the astral and mental planes and sensing heaven.
Those who wish to taste the realities of the spiritual world must learn to halt their thoughts. The sages of India say that the intellect is the assassin of reality. And it is true: our intellect allows us to obtain a great deal of superficial information, but we will never get to know the reality, the quintessence. It is the heart that has been granted the capacity to penetrate reality. However, to Initiates, the heart is not the physical heart, nor even feeling. When they speak of ‘the intelligence of the heart’, they are actually referring to the soul, which alone has the ability to feel the deep reality of things.
