Closely attached to its parents, it registers their disharmony

In order to educate a child, it is not enough to send it to school, however good that school may be. If at home the parents expose their child to their quarrels, lies and dishonesty, how can they possibly imagine that they are capable of bringing it up? It has been shown that a baby can fall ill and exhibit nervous disorders because of its parents’ arguments, even if it was not present at the time. The reason is that the infant, which is still very attached to its parents, picks up the discordant atmosphere created by their quarrelling. The baby is not conscious of the disharmony, but the shock registers in its etheric body.
Some parents’ behaviour is so unbelievable that you cannot help but wonder whether they really love their children. These parents, of course, will claim that they do love their children; but they do not. If they loved them, they would change their attitude. They would at least try to overcome some of the weaknesses that affect their children so adversely. If they do not make this effort, it shows that they do not really love their children.
