Human being
Both an image of the universe and an atom of light
December 26th 2026
As human beings were created in the image of God, they are also in the image of the universe. Of course, when we see how most people behave, we cannot help thinking that humans do not amount to much. Yes, they are nothing at all, and yet they are the whole universe, they are God.
Our intelligence, which can comprehend only a three-dimensional world, is incapable of grasping all the aspects of a human being. What we can see, touch and hear is but a very limited part—we do not know the true person, only their outer wrappings. Like a deep-sea diver wearing a diving suit, or an Eskimo dressed in layers of fur, a human being is clad in several skins, and it is only these that we know a little about.
If we were to strip away these skins, so to speak, one after the other, we would discover a miniscule dot, an atom of light. And yet, at the same time, we know that a human being is truly immense, embracing the universe itself. Both these statements are simultaneously true.
