Fate

Does not fly to the assistance of the careless

March 17th 2013
Vigilance, attention, whether physical or psychic, is indispensable. If you are not paying attention, you will make a clumsy movement, bump into an obstacle or fall. Your knowledge will not protect you, nor will your fortune or your virtues. So many remarkable people have died in accidents caused by their lack of attention, whereas criminals, because they are watchful, often succeed in avoiding trouble. You could even say that the main characteristic of criminals is their watchfulness, precisely because they feel in danger. They are aware of having broken the law and know they may be pursued, and so they are constantly on the alert for fear of being seen or leaving clues that would allow them to be caught. Do you think it is reasonable to leave watchfulness to criminals? You have to realize that your innocence will not automatically attract divine protection to you. If you are negligent, nothing and no one will protect you. Fate does not fly to the assistance of the careless.
