Letter m

The expression of a whole science

The letter M, in the form of two peaks separated by a valley, is the expression of a whole science. If you climb to the top of the left-hand peak, for example, you will have to go down into the valley before you can climb the right-hand peak. You have to go down; yes, but if you want to climb the other peak, you must take care not to fall. The two peaks of the letter M are the two poles of a person’s psychic life: the self and God. The self, our lower nature, or personality; and God, our higher nature, or individuality.* Our inner forces will be in equilibrium only when we have learned to weave the threads of our lives harmoniously between these two poles.*
