Competing

Rising on the spiritual plane just as on the social ladder

Human beings are instinctively driven to climb the social ladder and, in order to do so, they must pass certain exams or win a competition. They have this desire because they know that if they are in a higher position they will be better paid while working less and, above all, they will have greater opportunities to act, to manage things and take charge of the situation.* But why have they never realized that it is exactly the same in the spiritual realm?
Initiates and true disciples know that on the spiritual plane there are other committees and examiners who test them, weigh them up and give out diplomas. So, instead of competing with human beings for the position of governor, minister or president, they focus all their efforts on the inner, spiritual, divine plane. The nearer they come to the summit, to perfection, the higher the rank and the greater the powers accorded them by heaven… until one day, they are even able to command the very forces of nature.
