This sephirah reveals the mysteries of destiny to us

It is the sephirah Binah that reveals the mysteries of destiny to us, because it enlightens us about the law of cause and consequence. So many people think that life is absurd, that there is nothing logical about events or people’s destinies. This is simply because they lack the elements with which to see and understand.
These elements are to be found in Binah, where the angelic hierarchy at work is the Aralim, or Thrones, that St John saw in the form of twenty-four Elders.* The Aralim are also known as the Lords of Destiny, for it is they who determine the destiny of each being according to his merits, and their decrees are carried out by the angels of the following sephiroth: the angels of Chesed, the Hashmallim, who dispense rewards, or the angels of Geburah, the Seraphim who administer punishment.
