Light and fire

Light represents matter and fire, the spirit

Light is the clothing of fire. And insofar as all clothes are made of material, we can say that light also is a material substance. In the sublime regions on high, light represents matter, and fire represents the spirit. This is why it is said that God, who is primordial fire, first created light, and then, by means of light, He created the world. Light is the matter of creation. Before light, there was fire.
You question whether there can be fire without light. Yes. Primordial fire is non-manifested and therefore shows no light. For fire to be accompanied by light, it must manifest itself first.*
