The old age is prose, but the new age is poetry, that is, life, real life

'Many people, including cultured, well-read people, think of poetry as a conglomeration of vague, unconnected, and eccentric ideas, thrown together to form a series of foggy images that bear no resemblance to Nature.

Real poetry is the Word, the Divine Word, the linking together of marvellous elements by secret agreement, to bring the reader a fragment of the divine Life.

All too often a poet will pour out his negative feelings into his poetry, filling it with sadness and despair... why must we be obliged to receive the grief and revulsion of some fellow who thinks he is a poet?

I like poetry, I rank it above music, or painting, or sculpture. Poetry is the Word, the Verb that contains all art: music, colour and form, fragrance. Music is a tremendous power, it is true... its effect is immediate, but its language is not as clear and instructive as the language of poetry. The Word itself cornes through poetry, allowing you to hear a divine melody, divine rhythm and intonation, and above all, a divine meaning.

Music awakens feeling, it stimulates the will, but is doesn’t lead you in any special direction; you can listen to music all your life and remain as ignorant as ever. With poetry, you think, you feel, you remember, you are guided... the meaning is revealed with definite precision, besides which it includes music and colour and forms... all the arts.

I know that some of you prefer music because of the intense feeling it inspires... you are held captive! Poetry makes you think and understand things, it is your mind that is captive, whereas music appeals to the senses. But poetry, real poetry, is not confined to literature, it is closely linked with life.

When I look around at human beings, including the most learned and cultureçl, I see they are steeped in prose, their lives are prosaic, they are themselves dull, cold, and rigid, there is no trace of poetry about them. Why is humanity turning more and more to prose?

The new form of art is to live poetically night and day, to be warm and expressive and alive!

Sentimental people are more apt to be poetic than intellectuals, who tend to be prosaic. Yes, the mind must immobilize the object of its study, which is why scientists neglect the study of living things and concentrate on dead things. If something is alive, it moves and changes, impossible to grasp and hold it.

A child never stops moving, he lives in the midst of poetry. In the new culture, a poet will be someone who makes a poem of his life, whose life is poetry, because he is himself poetic, pure, and... perfect.

The old age is prose, but the new age is poetry, that is, life, real life.'
